영화콘서트 ”스윙키즈“

 

한미동맹 70주년을 맞아, 자유와 평화의 가치로 맺어진 한미동맹의 역사적 의미와 국제사회 연대의 가치를 논의하고자

한다. 6.25 한국전쟁 당시 거제 포로수용소에서 오직 춤에 대한 열정을 똘똘 뭉친 오합지졸 댄스단의 탄생기를 그린 영화,

<스윙키즈>. 국적, 언어, 이념, 문화적 배경 등 모든 것이 다르지만 ‘춤’이라는 매개체로 어려운 상황 속에서도 희망을 찾는

이들의 이야기를 통해 우리는 연대와 도전의 가치를 느낄 수 있다.

 

김지윤 정치학 박사, 송경원 씨네21기자, 김봉중 미국학 교수와 함께 정치, 문화, 역사 등 다양한 시각에서 작품을 살펴보고,

당시의 시대적 상황, 인종과 이념 간의 갈등 등을 초월하는 우정, 자유를 향한 열망이라는 작품의 주제를 통해 그 안에 담긴

다양한 인문가치에 대하여 이야기 나누어본다.

 

 

 

Movie Concert "Swing Kids"

 

Celebrating the 70th anniversary of the ROK-US alliance, the historical significance of the ROK-US

alliance—forged with freedom and peace—and the significance of solidarity in the international community

are discussed. <Swing Kids> is a movie that depicts the rise of a ragtag dance troupe with a strong passion

for dancing in the Geoje prison camp during the Korean War. The stories of people who withstand hardship

by dancing as one group in spite of different nationality, language, ideology, and cultural background invite

viewers to join in their solidarity and value.

 

Together with Kim Ji-yoon, PhD in political science, Cine21 Journalist Song KyungWon, and American

studies professor Kim, Bong Joong, the movie is reviewed by applying various lenses—politics, culture,

and history. Consequently, the humanistic value conveyed in the movie is discussed through major themes

of the movie—friendship and the desire for freedom—that transcend circumstances of the period and

conflicts between races and ideologies.
